Many horse owners prefer a fence configuration using the Stay-Tite® wire for not only its durability, but for its safety as well.  For horse pasture, the Stay-Tite® wire works well with a hot top-wire added to keep horses from leaning over and crushing the fence.  We recommend a hot wire for this over a barbed top-wire, not only because the hot wire is much more effective, but because it is also much safer for horses.  Also, a 12-inch spacing in the vertical stays is preferable over a 6-inch stay, since the larger spacing allows a horse to easily and safely remove its hoof if it ever chances to put one through the fence.  (Clicking on the examples below will change the main picture to the left.)

Some horse owners have opted for the 3-inch stay, which, though more costly, prevents horses from getting into the fence at all.
